PART PRICING & INVOICING APPLICATION
A major truck manufacturer needed a better way
to distribute semi-annual price information of
a catalog of over 250,000 truck parts and part
related information. Their current method was
a paper catalog of part price manuals and a mass
mailing to distribute the information to over
5,000 specific part distributors. Six levels of
part dealers were defined and each was allowed
to see only specific prices for a part. This requirement
meant that six different pricing manuals were
printed and shipped to each specific dealer each
mailing. This process was both costly and time
inefficient.
The Roush Technical Services group
developed a CD-based computer application designed
to run quickly and allow each part distributor
instant access to part pricing information
within the large truck part database. The solution
had
to be easy to distribute and install on the
users computer. It needed to be designed with
an intuitive
menu and provide easy use for searching and
displaying multiple parts pricing information.
Users receive and install the application version
of the new parts database each year. Price change
updates are completed by accessing downloads from
a secured web site. Helpful search functions like
wildcard part lookups; editable record retrieval
capabilities; price level handling, along with
customer matrix discounting and order processing
proved to exceed our customer expectations and
provide a way to effectively distribute the companies
part prices to each part retailer.
